Stillpoint

internal Tool | Not for Public

A heart-coherence breathing trainer for my Mac. The sound breathes; I follow it.

Mid-session: the orb, and nothing else

Why I built it

I practise meditation on and off, but this one came from somewhere specific: a microdose session that left me wanting to take the deeper work more seriously. Proper meditation, longer sits, actually working on consciousness rather than just visiting it.

Ready to begin: duration and pace

So I decided not to look at what was already out there, and built my own; deliberately not for the phone, which is a distraction I'm trying to lean away from. Stillpoint lives in my Mac's menu bar and works by sound alone: audio that swells as you breathe in and settles as you breathe out, five and a half breaths a minute, so you can keep your eyes closed the whole time.

The practice: the in-app guide

I built it over a weekend and I've used it since. The first session told me the default breath shape was wrong; the inhale was hard to hold, so I rebuilt it exhale-weighted. Another personal tool, and not something I want to release yet.
